					<description>I think this is an insightful post, probably because I agree with everything you said :)  I should add that a high-level requirements document really helps in the design process.  It should be simply a description of what the software SHOULD do, nothing else.  It doesn't need to be all that formal either.  But then again, I work for a smaller company where such formalism is often unnecessary overhead. 

So my thoughts are: Requirements guides design guides implementation guides iteration.</description>
